Almost eight years to the night that Margaret Frame disappeared and later was found killed in a park in Brighton, the terror climbed to a new level. This time it was the disappearance of two little girls, best friends who were playing together in a park in Brighton. On the evening of October 9, 1986, two nine-year-old girls, Nicola Fellows and Karen Hadaway failed to return home. The girls were last spotted playing together in Wild Park shortly before twilight. Both of the girls were afraid of the dark. A large search for the two commenced that evening around dinner time and continued into the night. A large park with foggy, pitch black conditions proved to be extremely difficult. As it turns out, everything about this case will prove to be extremely difficult.

In the late 1970s sexual assault attacks were on the rise in Brighton, England. London saw a very similar uptick in crimes against women and child as well. By the autumn of 1978, Brighton and the wider Sussex area were already gripped by fear. Reports in the press asked how many potential sex attackers might be prowling the streets of Sussex during the long, dark nights of that coming winter. Violence against women, sexual assaults, attacks after dark had become urgent public concerns. Then Margaret Frame went missing walking home through Stanmer Park after a work shift. The same day that her remains were found another women nearby, Ann Dubeau was stabbed to death in the kitchen of her home.

This week in the Garage we explore one of the most unsettling unsolved murder investigations in Indiana and Ohio history - the case of the unidentified killer known as the I-70 Strangler. The killings took place across Indiana and Ohio between 1980 and 1991. During that span, at least 12 men and boys were murdered. The exact number of victims remains uncertain.
