Part 1: Join Tony and Shippa ias they travel all the way to Perth, hoping to be enlightened by John Topliss from the exceedingly bright WA band Streetlights. Shippa denies ever having stood underneath one, but Tony knows better! And John treats us to an informative and entertaining insight into the band’s genesis from school to what it is today…an extremely talented bunch of musicians who will definitely light up your day…or night!
Part 2: Tony and Shippa discuss new and old tracks from current Indie Artists, former Indie Artists and a classic or two. On this podcast, we introduce Beth Seymour and the Lizzies (Melbourne), Velvet Two Stripes (Zurich, Switzerland), Madi Leeds (Melbourne), Erica Avenue (Melbourne), Waist (Melbourne), Dempsey (Melbourne), Billy Cart (Melbourne), Tombstones In Their Eyes (LA, USA), Gordon’s Grandson (Melbourne), Makthaverskan (Göthenburg, Sweden) and Downgirl (Sydney), with Shippa’s Surprise guaranteed to get you thinking twice before monkeying around!
When I first heard 'Balcony' by Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers the song's pace, riff and band vocals took me back to the debut album for Def Leppard and especially the track 'Wasted'. I'll play each track to illustrate this point. It's always fun to hear new music from Grace Petrie and she returns with an ep entitled "THIS IS NO TIME TO PANIC!' Remember Melbourne band Snout from the 90s? Songs like 'Cromagnon Man' etc. They had a retro sound back then so what does that make them in 2025? Cheersquad Records have just re-released their 1994 album 'What's That Sound' and I spin a fave track from this album. The AI genie slid out of the bottle a couple of years ago and as usual technology morphs and evolves way ahead of legal frameworks. So we end up with trash like the AI clone of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - so for old times sake let's spin the original / best / classic version of 'Rattlesnake'. New tunes from Ken Pomeroy - Eggy - Anna Smyrk - Cat Canteri - Ladytron - The Buoys - Annie Hamilton - Mid Drift - Nat Vazer - Georgia Knight - Caroline and Yumi Zouma release the 6th single from next month's new album 'No Love Lost To Kindness'.
